One of the main complaints people have about the homeless is that they smell bad and their clothes are dirty. But people rarely stop to think that homeless people simply have nowhere to wash their clothes: not every Launderette will let a dirty person in, and besides, you have to pay for the service. However, a homeless person may not have any money, because they can’t get a job if they’re dirty.

The Cultural Launderette is a joint project between Nochlezhka and the Prachka.Com chain of self-service laundromats. We opened it on November 22, 2016, and it is Russia’s first free laundromat for homeless people. It features eight sets of 5-kg washing machines and dryers, as well as one 9-kg washing machine for bulky items.
