why is

this important

Many homeless people ended up on the streets because they didn’t receive help in time. Typically, people start drinking after they’ve already lost their homes—out of desperation and not knowing where to turn. Alcoholism is a disease. We believe we should help those who are willing to acknowledge their addiction and work to overcome it.

Rehabilitation at the Halfway House is based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and includes group and individual sessions with addiction counselors and psychologists. Daily meetings are led by peer counselors—people who have successfully overcome addiction themselves.

How it

works

Participants live in a separate apartment with 14 beds for men. The program lasts six months. Before the program begins, participants may be temporarily housed at the Rehabilitation Shelter at 112B Borovaya Street, where they can spend a month working with a substance abuse counselor to prepare for their move to the Halfway House. Psychologists, social workers, and lawyers from Nochlezhka help each client of the Halfway House resolve their individual social and legal issues.
