For a person to have the physical and mental strength to get off the streets, they need to spend the night in a warm and safe place. Every night spent on the street makes it harder for a person to find a job and reintegrate into society—they may be beaten and have their documents stolen, their health deteriorates, and their self-esteem and confidence in their own abilities plummet. That is why it is crucial for a city to have a place where people can go and spend the night without money, references, or documents.

The night shelter is a single-story modular building where anyone in need can spend the night in warmth and safety, all year round. People who come to stay for the night can wash themselves and wash and dry their clothes. The shelter has two shower stalls and a restroom equipped for people in wheelchairs, as well as a laundry room with three washing machines and dryers. An administrator is on duty here to help people find their way around and refer them to a Night Shelter specialist: a psychologist, social worker, or lawyer.
In the summer of 2019, Nochlezhka opened a night shelter for homeless people and equipped it with a composting toilet. In May 2020, we connected it to the water supply and installed a sewer system, so that people can wash themselves, do their laundry, and use a more comfortable toilet.
