On 22 September Nochlezhka is holding a seminar called ‘Preparing documents for applying for retirement and social benefits for the homeless’ for their colleagues fr om state institutions and NGOs. During the seminar, social workers Natalya Shavlokhova and Pavel Lyaks are going to discuss pensions and regional and federal social benefits: what papers a homeless person needs to have to apply for social benefits, where to begin, wh ere to go, how to establish the amount, conditions, and time periods of the benefit.
The speakers will pay special attention to the latest changes in the pension legislation.
‘For a lot of homeless people pensions and social benefits are the only source of income. However, it is hard to understand the intricacies of how to get these benefits even if you are a professional and have access to the information. We are holding this seminar to discuss the specifics of the new pension system and existing options for providing the homeless with social benefits”, says Natalya Shavlokhova, a social worker at Nochlezhka.
This seminar is a part of Nochlezhka’s project to share their expertise: the organization has been helping the homeless since 1990.
