The Night Bus Project Manager, Andrey Chapaev Awarded with Governor’s Badge of Honour
On 15 November the Night Bus project coordinator, Andrey Chapaev was awarded with a badge of honour from the Governor of St Petersburg ‘For Compassion’. This year 35 best social workers, teachers, doctors and businessmen were awarded. The awards were given in Smolny Palace by the Chairman of the Social Policy Committee, Alexander Rzhanenkov.
Andrey Chapaev, who is loved by all volunteers and colleagues, has been coordinating the Night Bus for 6 years now. Every working day under his supervision 150-200 people are given food, medications and attention that they need so much.
Over previous years the badge For Compassion has been given to three employees of Nochlezhka: social worker Valentina Boreyko, legal consultant Igor Karlinsky and the former director of the organisation, Maxim Egorov.
The badge of honour from the governor of St. Petersburg ‘For Compassion’ is annually awarded to people for special achievements in eradication of homelessness in St. Petersburg. Since 2005 this award has been given to 207 people. You can find out more about this award at the website of the municipal government.
